Our Privacy Undertaking
Shindig will treat any data you provide with the utmost respect and guarantees not to use this data except to:
- provide the service for which you have or will subscribe
- market to you services directly related to the Shindig service
- provide aggregated analysis of behaviour to assist in product development.
Any information you provide, or that is acquired through your usage of the application or associated Shindig websites, will be treated as confidential and is protected by the Privacy Act 1988.
Third Parties
Shindig does not currently provide your data to any third party for the purposes of marketing or analysis. Your express permission will be requested before any data is passed to a third party for marketing or sales activity. It is possible that third parties will be involved in the analysis of data for the purposes of activities outlined under “Our Privacy Undertaking”. Your database content might also be stored securely on servers hosted by third party providers, but Shindig will take every possible precaution to ensure such providers adhere to the intent of this privacy policy.
Your Database Content
Information you store when using Shindig, including contact details, calendar information, tasks, product details and website content, will remain your property and will not be made available to any third party, or used by Shindig for any purpose except for the provision of your service or for analysis to assist in product development.
Your data might aggregrated with other customer data and analysed to patterns of usage of the Shindig product or to identify trends in business patterns that can be fed back to Shindig customers as an additional benefit of the Shindig service. We will ensure that your privacy and competitive advantage is not compromised in any way by such activity.
Site Visit Data
Irrespective of whether you subscribe to Shindig, when visiting a Shindig site a record of your visit is logged. The following information is supplied by your browser and recorded by us for statistical purposes and to help improve the site and assist in marketing activity:
the user's server address
the user's operating system (for example Windows, Mac etc)
the user's top level domain name (for example .com, .gov, .au, .uk etc)
the date and time of the visit to the site
the pages accessed and the documents downloaded
the previous site visited
the type of browser used.
No attempt will be made to identify users or their browsing activities except in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect the Internet Service Provider's logs.
Collection of Personal Information
When you contact Shindig, either directly or via an online form, we will record your e-mail address and comments, and use this information for the purpose for which you provided it. You may, in response, receive emails related to Shindig but we will always be provided with an opportunity to unsubscribe from such activity.
We will, at your request, provide you with access to any information which we have collected about you through this website in accordance with Information Privacy Principle 6, Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). To gain access to this information you should contact the individual named at the end of this document. If you believe that any information is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date let Shindig know and we will revise it in accordance with Information Privacy Principle 7, Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Cookies
A cookie is a text string that is included with Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) requests and responses. Cookies are used to maintain state information as you navigate different pages on a web site or return to the web site at a later time. Cookies cannot be used to execute code (run programs) or deliver viruses to your computer.
Cookies are either stored in memory (session cookies) or placed on your hard disk (persistent cookies). Shindig does not use persistent cookies and is unlikely to at any point in the future. Configuration data for the application is stored remotely in the Shindig database.
Although it is possible to disable cookies in Internet Explorer doing so will prevent you from logging in to the application. Disabling cookies does not make you anonymous or prevent web sites from tracking your browsing habits. HTTP requests still include information about where you came from (HTTP Referer), your IP address, browser version, operating system, and other information (see Site Visit Data above).
Security of Information
Your personal information will not be released unless the law requires or permits it or your permission is given. We provide a secure environment and a reliable system but you should be aware that there may be inherent risks associated with the transmission of information via the Internet.
