Before you start using Shindig there's a few basic set-up procedures you need to follow. Spending a bit of time on this before you kick-off could save a lot of time later, so grab a cup of coffee and start reading.

1. You have to sign up!

It's relatively easy to sign-up, but read through the detailed description so you understand clearly things like subdomains and usernames. Some of the information you provide during sign-up cannot be changed later, so its best to get it right!

Read "Signing up to Shindig" for more information, and watch the demo watch

2. Read up on Multi User Accounts

Shindig is designed to enable collaborative working - so you and your colleagues can share information that will keep your business running efficiently. The "Multi User Accounts" section explains what each staff member is provided with when you sign-up to a multi-user plan.

3. Set up More Users

When you sign-up to Shindig you create an account for one person. You need to log-in to create additional users. The "Setting Up More Users" section tells you how to do this, and also explains who can change whose passwords and log-in details. Its all important stuff to know. If you don't want to read the detail, then watch the demo! watch

4. Tailor Menus For Your Business

Throughout Shindig there are drop down menus. They are used, for example, to categorise your contacts, identify the source of leads, classify your companies into industry types and much more. The "Setting Up Menus" section explains how to tailor these menus. Read all about it and/or view the demo on editing menu options watch

5. Set Up Calendars

Shindig calendars are feature rich. Each user can view each others appointments and meetings (unless they are marked private). You can also mark of time when each user is not available - so everyone can clearly see their working hours. The same applies to resources - items such as rooms or equipment that might be needed for an appointment. Read the "Setting Up Calendars" section to see what to do to get the full benefits of the calendar functions. A video demo to help with setting up calendars is also available watch

6. Import Contacts

If you've already got a number of your contacts in a program like Outlook or MYOB, you'll be pleased to know that information can be easily imported into Shindig. Read through this detailed section for help on with "Importing Contacts"
