| Adding Work Details | ||
To add work details follow the instructions on creating a new contact to open a new window with blank fields for all the main details of a contact.
For each new contact you need to add at least the contacts surname from the main contact details screen. Then, from the drop down menu in the top left of this new window, select work details.
In the Work Details screen you can select the "job title" or position for this contact. You must select from the positions contained in the drop down list. Job titles can be added, edited or subtracted from this list in the Profile section of Shindig.
Next you can select the company that this person works for. You do this by selecting from the list of all companies contained on your database, which are listed in the drop down selection on the work details screen.
If the company this person works for is not on the list in the company drop down menu, then it can't be in your database. You'll need to save the changes you have made so far, then create a new company record. Then return to this screen to make the selection or add this person as a contact in the "add staff" function in the company section of Shindig. Once a company has been selected the delivery address and street address for this company is shown.
You cannot change the delivery address or street address from this screen because this address applies to everyone on your database who works for that company. To change these addresses you need to save the changes you have made on this contact's record, then close the winow and go to the company menu to edit the company details. Before moving on from this screen, you'll notice there are two tick boxes alongside the company addresses. You can click either or both of these, to indicate where this contact would like to receive promotional material that you might choose to send out. Or you can leave both boxes unchecked.
The source of contact drop down menu will help you keep track of where your contacts originate from. When you first use Shindig there are is some "seed" data contained in this menu, but you can remove, edit or add your own selection to this list in the Profile section of Shindig. You've now added details in the contact's work details screen. It's important to remember that these changes are not saved to your Shindig database until you press the "save" button. Next you can close the window or move to another screen to store more details. Choose from the drop down menu at the top of the window to move to home address...
..or click the advance arrow ( > ) in the top right corner.
